Good day!

Host: OS X Version 10.8.2
Guest: Microsoft Windows XP with all SPs
VirtualBox: 4.2.6 r82870, with VBox Guest Additions, with VirtualBox Extension Pack 4.2.6 r82870

Thank you for your interest in this post!

I was working in my Guest System and accidentally pressed some weird key combination and this caused my Guest to immediately shrink to a resolution of 72x72!

My tries to undo this failed. Restarting the guest did not solve the problem. Restarting the host neither. I was googeling endlessly to find a solution with no success. Then I decided to update the VirtualBox, hoping that the update would reset this "situation". Again: no luck.

Has anybody of you come across this previously or do you have any idea on how I get my VirtualBox back to a useful resolution? There is no way I can change anything inside the Guest as the visible area is too small...

Please find attached screenshots of the whole mess!

Your help is highly appreciated... I'm totally lost!

Kind regards, Oli

Try to start the guest in safe mode and if it returns to a larger screen reset the monitor resolution to 600x800 and reboot. Then try to larger resolutions.

Hi Perryg

Thank you very much for your valuable idea.

I did as you suggested and restarted the Guest in safe mode. Resolution was back to normal. However, when restarted in normal mode, the resolution went back to 72x72. I then restarted again in safe mode, de-installed the graphics driver of the VirtualBox, restarted in normal mode and re-installed the graphics driver. Now everything is working again perfectly.

Once again thank you very much for your time. Have a nice weekend!
