Hi,
I have my host Mac 10.6.8 running guest Windows 7 on VB 4.2.6 (plus the extension pack). Everything seems to work so far, but I would like to share my external drives or anything for that matter. So I did Devices->Install Guest Additions, but nothing happens. I've read that there should be some prompts or something, but I have tried a few times now and waited a long time, but the folders are never shared (I have setup the things I want shared to auto-mount). Every time I click the "Shared Folders" icon I get the "install Guest Additions" message.
Am I missing something?
Thanks in advance!

Re: Can't seem to install guest additions
Yes. Auto-mount may be turned off on the guest. Use the file manager and look at the CD/DVD drive. They should be loaded. Then manually start the install. I suggest that you install the wddm drivers if you want 3D acceleration.

AHA! Thank you so much. I figured it had to be something simple/me being dumb. Everything is working perfectly!
Thanks.
Thanks.

Perry:
Windows 7 on iMac running Mountain Lion 10.8.2
VB 4.6.2 r82870
I have the same problem with the download of updated Guest Additions. It has always updated before, but will not do so now from within I pull down "device" menu, click on update guest additions, but nothing happens. I don't understand the location of the "file manager". If they are not "loaded", how do I do that ? I'm not interested in sharing external drives or 3D acceleration.
Thanks.

Re: Can't seem to install guest additions
The file manager in question is the guests file manager. If you have clicked install guest additions then they are already mounted. Look at the CD/DVD drive on the guests file manager and start the install from there.jhoufek wrote:Perry:

Alternatively you can click on the devices tab and the cd/dvd and click to remove the additions and then click install again to open autoload. (if it is not disabled)
