Virus software may cause this but it has to be host related.

It would be very strange to say the least if the OS somehow deleted a file in a folder that VB uses. But I have seen stranger things....
So far so good though, the guest machines are holding up. If they are still there by EOD or even tomorrow, then maybe we have found the solution.

Well, so far so good, the guest machines have not disappeared. I added the .VirtualBox folder to the "do not scan" list of my anti-virus yesterday and since then all is good! If that changes though, I'll come back and report, but for now it seems like the anti-virus was the cause of the disappearances. For the record, we have CA anti-virus installed here.

I really hate anti-virus software. Fortunately I don't have to deal with it so much these days.
