OpenGL issue

Installed Linux Mint 14 KDE as a guest on a Mac host. Although I have 3D enabled, when I run 'glxinfo | grep OpenGL' I get this...

OpenGL vendor string: Humper
OpenGL renderer string: Chromium
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Chromium 1.9
OpenGL shading language version string: 1.20

along with some warnings about what is not found in the mesa table.

KDE seems to think I don't have OpenGL because when I go to the desktop effects I get a warning about certain effects that wont run without OpenGL. Plus, when I explicitly tell it to use OpenGL instead of xrender it accepts the settings but immediately defaults back to xrender.

any thoughts? or is 3D on Mac hosts with AMD graphics a lost cause?

AFAIK 3D support on Virtualbox is still experimental and can simply not work at times.

Feel free to check on the Bugtracker if any ticket is open about issues with OpenGL, and submit your infos and logs - this would directly reach the devs.

I do want to thank you for your response. However, I have as have many others posted tickets about the 3D issues on Mac hosts for nearly two years I think and nothing seems to have changed. Luckily I don't need 3D.
