game not working on xp

hello all,
i have a windows 8 machine and i am trying to get the game car tycoon working.
i have set up a virtual xp machine in virtualbox,
now the problem is the sound in windows works (media player, youtube, windows sounds) i hear them all,
but when i start up the game it gives the error `no mci device open` that means he donts see a sound card or drivers.
how can i solve this??

Did you install the guest additions?
Did you change the default sound card that was assigned to the VM when you created it?

yes i have guest aditions
and what do you exactly mean with the 2nd thing you said?

I mean that maybe the current sound card setting of Virtualbox is not supported by the game?

i did try them all and in windows they are working and for the game not

Not sure what more I can tell you to help then.
Gaming support as always been best effort, as these are a whole branch of work on their own.

Maybe someone else will have more experience with that as I personally don't have any.
