Oversized progression bar while creating virtual drive

I recently upgraded to VirtualBox-4.2.6-82870-Win so that I may test Win 8 and when I get to create a virtual hard drive the window that later appears and shows "creating fixed medium storage unit...." stretches beyond both sides of the screen to twice the span of the screen making it difficult to tell the progress of the process. This problem isn't present in VirtualBox-4.0.6-71416-Win but anything else released after VirtualBox-4.0.6-71416-Win has that same problem. I am using a dual core with win 7 ultimate x64, and an 8800GT gpu with the latest drivers. What was missed while making VirtualBox-4.2.6-82870-Win?

nice bug

You should head to the
Bugtracker and look if any ticket has been opened already with a similar issue, or create a new one if not, and add all these.
Then come back here and post the link to the ticket so anyone encountering this issue can keep track of this.

Oh, this is easy to avoid... just stop using fixed disks. There are few good reasons to use them (e.g. performance claims don't hold up), which is probably why this bug got overlooked.

You have total control on the max size of the dynamic file when you create it. What ever you set it will not grow past. The purpose of dynamic is it only uses the sapce it needs up to the size you set.
