Try reducing the RAM allocation to 2GB or less.

If that doesn't help then - log file please.
Minimum information needed for assistance.

A Guru meditation is never a good sign.
3GB is a lot of memory, maybe try 2 or 1 GB.
Could you attach as a zip file the vbox.log when the guru meditation happens?

You have attached the VboxSVC.log file, which isn't the one needed.
The one needed is located inside your VM folder, under the Logs folder. (see mpack's link for exact details)

In fact I need log files from a session in which the guru meditation occurred. Neither of the two supplied log files show any error. And, I am particularly interested in seeing an example of it when the guest is allocated 2GB RAM or less. A 32bit guest really doesn't need 3GB, and anyway your host can't easily spare it.

ps. There's no need to provide multiple log files. Just the correct one will do.

Looking at the log file, there are some memory error, even a low memory error - even tho you start with 4.5 GB free and only assign 1.7GB.
My guest on this one would be a bad memory slot, and would advice to run a memory test.
But maybe mpack has seen this before and can give further input.

Yes, I've seen this before. My understanding of the issue is as follows: VirtualBox requires a contiguous block of host RAM to serve as guest RAM. If it can't find a contiguous block large enough for the VM then you'll get a low memory error regardless of the total memory available to the host. Usually the issue is caused by having some kind of humungous memory hog running on the host. I would look at the Windows task list, see who the biggest memory hogs are when VBox is not running, and see if you can't reduce their impact.

Also, the chance of hitting this problem is lowered when you shrink the amount you allocate to the VM. Basically, give the VM what it needs, it isn't always a good thing to give it way more than it needs. I'm not familiar with Fedora 17 and have not checked what it needs.

I alloted 1GB RAM and 12GB storage and this time it worked. I also closed the applications like Skype, explorer.exe which were consuming much memory.
Thank you very much mpack and noteirak. You can see a big smile on my face. :D

Explorer.exe is the Windows shell, powering the desktop, icons, folders, recycle bin etc. So you can't go very far without it. However it has been known for certain shell extensions to waste a lot of memory, eg. thumbnail viewers that try to load entire movie clips in order to generate a thumbnail. If you notice that happening then you can usually disable just the problem plugin rather than closing the whole of Explorer.
