Linux Ubuntu 64bit unusable on VirtualBox

Hello to all,
I just installed Ubuntu 12.10 (64 bit) on VirtualBox.
Unfortunately, however, it is useless: it is slow, start lasts 2-3 minutes, the mouse stutters.

Do you have any idea why?

Ok, you're right.
I beg your pardon.

I'm using VirtualBox 4.2.6
With a little effort (as has been said very slow) I have already installed the "Guest Additions"
Host: Windows 8 64-bit
Guest: Linux Ubuntu 12.10 64-bit

I hope this information is useful...

A few things jump out.

• You have IO APIC disabled. IME modern OS's, esp 64bit, expect this to be enabled.
• You seem to have located the VDI file on a Z drive. If that means a network drive then performance will be awful compared to native hard disk.
• I see you've only allocated 1GB RAM to the VM. I don't actually know what Ubuntu 12.10s requirements are, but that seems low for a 64bit OS. I note that you can't allocate much more because Windows 8 is hogging most of your hosts memory.
• The disk path also contains the term "Portable-VirtualBox". Portable VirtualBox is someone else's fork of VirtualBox. We do not handle their support for them!

ps. I see you still have the Guest Additions CD in the virtual CD drive. It's best to unmount it.
