Apparent bug in Host hard disk information.
Using Virtualbox 4.2.6 r82870 on a MacBook Pro 2.5 GHZ Intel Core i5 w 4GB ram and 500GB hard disk host. Running OS X version 10.8.2 on the host. First time user of Virtualbox so in attempts to create a Windows 7 guest VM, I had to create and remove several guest VMs. Noticed that when I click on the host hard disk icon on the Mac OS desktop and then do a "Get Info" to see how much disk space has been used and/or is available on the host, the numbers are not correct. It reports a 499.25 GB capacity (correct) but says 588.18GB are available (not possible) and says that -- bytes are used (not correct). Is it possible that VirtualBox has scrambled this data when I created and removed several guest VMs? If so, how do I restore the correct information? Otherwise, I have been able to set up and run a Windows 7 guest and it seems to function quite well. Thank you for considering this matter.

The "VirtualBox Beta" forum is for discussion of beta versions, not current releases. Moving you to the "Mac hosts" forum.
