Hello. I'm having trouble setting up a Linux-based host (Tried Ubuntu 12 and the latest version of Linux Mint) on Windows Vista 64 bit. How can I resolve this issue? Is there any way for me to send a log?

Define "trouble". No one can help you unless you explain what the actual problem is.
The wizard that guides you through creating a guest for the first time is quite good, running a GNU/Linux guest on a Windows host should present you with no problems.
Have you read the documentation?

And do you actually mean "host", surely you mean "guest"?

Apologies for the vagueness of my post and for getting the terminology wrong. (Linux guest, Windows host.)

Attached are two screenshots of the failure of Ubuntu to install and a log is attached. I've tried disabling audio functions in the settings (Settings --> Audio --> Uncheck Enable Audio) but installation still failed.

I'm afraid I put the virtual box logs on pastebin because it did not fit the 128KB attachment size limit.

I will not click any offsite links. The two screenshots provided are not very useful either, so I've deleted them (the first showed a generic Guru Meditation - no specific error code, the second was not an error message, it was just a standard warning about host audio capabilities).

Please post the log here as a single .zip attachment. In fact that was suggested in Minimal information needed for assistance.

I tried to install both Linux Mint and Ubuntu, 32 bit versions. My CPU's specs are Intel Core i5 2500K 3.3ghz (4 CPUs) if it's any help. (And apologies for my failure to follow the instructions - I'm not very good at that.)

The DEBUG_HYPER_ASSERTION error is rare, I don't really know what causes it, though I have a vague notion that it has detected an existing virtual environment. You are not trying to run the VirtualBox host software inside a VM right? Either that or you have some kind of debugger running.

Other things to try:
Since it's only a 32bit guest I would try reducing the guest RAM to 2GB or 1GB (you currently have 3GB).
I would also try enabling VT-x if your host supports it. Try the RAM thing first.

Problem solved by decreasing RAM to 1GB. I've increased it up again to 2 (Tried 2.5 but got crashes as well) GB now.
