I've installed the latest Virtualbox (VirtualBox-4.2.6-82870-OSX.dmg) and now the VirtualBox Manager opens and hangs and I need to force kill it!

Reverted to 4.2.2 and it works fine!

Can you try with 4.2.4?
If it works aswell, then something was broken in 4.2.6, and you should post on the bugtracker

sure, 4.2.4 works fine.

I installed 4.2.2 because I went to older downloads page (https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Download_Old_Builds_4_2) and was the only one I found.
In the http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox/ I could find all the downloads I could need of course.

Created a ticket in https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/11323

Strangely no reply from anyone and by seeing the ticket I'm seeing that more people with the same issue.
Do you really test VB in Mountain Lion?

I cannot talk for the devs but testing is done before releasing a new version, sadly some specifics might change the output, and until the bug is found and filled as such (which you did), nothing can be done. But at least now the devs are aware of it and can work on it, trying to reproduce it, etc.

When the ML was released the Virtualbox also didn't worked and that was a known issue before it happen. Only was fixed after and everyone (with the new macs) complained. This is a new release that has problems so it's fair to presume that the testing is a bit fade.

But if you say that there are tests I must believe you although I don't see ANY devs asking to give some details of our installation or something that can be replicated to fix this issue. I'm not saying that must be fixed ASAP but should be looked as important.

Give me some time (and a new HDD) and I will change it back to Ubuntu and 'fix' all this problems

4.2.6 is working fine on my iMac running 10.8.2 except for the pesky 3D/OpenGL issues. No hangs, no crashes. Perhaps a bad download or if you have an Ivy bridged i7.

Tried 4.2.6 on two different Macs running Mountain Lion (2011 and 2012 MBPs), no such problem. So what's special about the systems of the people who do see the hangs?

I don't know about the other users in the ticket but I have a 13" MBP Mid 2012 with 10.8.2.

So, what's special about my system? I don't know.. I have macports installed and XCode and stuff like that for developing. Other then that It must be a 'normal' system I guess.

I could re-download 4.2.6 again although I never had a problem with downloads and the .dmg image mounted correctly and reply if it's the same or fixed.
EDIT: re-downloaded and reinstalled and still the same problem!

I suspect your problem is the IVY Bridge chip.

My mid-2012 MBP has no trouble... so that's probably not it.

Didn't michaln tested with the same MBP that I have? So what's the problem of the IVY Bridge chip that doesn't affect the 4.2.4 release?

4.2.5 and 4.2.6 were changed to work with the ivy bridge processors so I suppose it's odd 4.2.4 works but at any rate, perhaps you have an extension that is only affecting 4.2.6? Also, do you happen to have SSD only? I'm not sure anything else could be an issue other than permissions since both michain and I have 4.2.6 running just fine in OSX 10.8.2.

There's a 4.2.5? That's news to me... there was 4.2.1 to fix problems with OS X 10.8.2 on Ivy Bridge Macs, but there was no 4.2.3 or 4.2.5.
