Install virtualbox in windows 8 consumer edition

I just recently got a new machine with windows 8 consumer edition pre-installed. I would like to install virtualbox to create another windows 8 (I would like to use it for some developmental purposes, I need to delete the VM if anything goes wrong). I would also like to install Linux as a seperate VM, though would not use them at the same time.

I read that some of the windows 8 users have issues when rebooting the host machine after installing the VM. Do I need to do anything before installing as a precaution. I am new to windows 8, so not sure about the capabilities. Is there any tutorials that I can look at?

Thanks.

The main issue about Virtualbox & Windows 8 is Hyper-V, another virtualization tool, which is installed by default.
Simply disable or uninstall it totally from Windows 8 feature, and you're good to go.

Thanks for the reply. I could not find the Hyper-V option in my windows 8 consumer edition. Does it have it? I read that it will be in Pro, not sure if its in consumer edition too.

Please let me know.

Thanks.

It is possible it is only in the Pro version. If you can't find it, then it means you don't have it, that's fine.
You shouldn't have any boot issue :)
