UTF8 in console on guest linux

Hi!
I have a problem with displaying of UTF8 encoded text in console (under X) -
the kernel parameter to use UTF8 ir given tor lilo, in lang.sh the language setting set, but in Konsole (KDE 4.9.3) I get question marks instead of non-ascii characters or two simbols, if i use mc.
In the same time, for example, kate, displays characters as they should be.
I have 3 identical systems running Slack14-64, two of them physical (having no problems), and one virtual machine with a problem.
