So I've tried to setup virtualbox for windows 8 and I get this error.
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine TOM-V-PC.
VT-x features locked or unavailable in MSR. (VERR_VMX_MSR_LOCKED_OR_DISABLED).
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
I googled and got that I need to enable virtualization but I don't think my motherboard (P8H77-V-LE) supports it?
Any way around this?

Have you enabled Hyper-V in your Windows 8 machine?

Re: Virtualbox on Windows 8
The error message means that you enabled VT-x for a particular VM but VT-x is not available, either because your host doesn't have it or because it's already being used by another VM platform such as Hyper-v. If it's a new PC then I would expect the latter.Purify wrote:I googled and got that I need to enable virtualization but I don't think my motherboard (P8H77-V-LE) supports it?
It would be useful to know what your CPU is, since the motherboard doesn't really determine VT-x support.
VT-x is required if you want to run 64bit guests.
