In moving a VB instance of Windows Server 2008 from a Windows 7 host to an Ubuntu 11 host, then fighting the UUID changes, etc., I consistently find that bringing up 2008 on Ubuntu reveals a version far earlier than the most recent snapshot.
I've tried moving the entire content of the .vdi folder, tried moving/bringing up the "clone," tried deleting/merging snapshots on both sides, and nothing works.
Once brought up on Ubuntu, the VB instance is basically as-installed,relecting none of the software additions or DB changes. What am I doing wrong?
Moving doesn't bring up latest instance

Copy the entire folder that has the guest (includes the snapshots and control files) to the new location and then use the VirtualBox Machine | *ADD* feature.
Re: Moving doesn't bring up latest instance
UUID does not match the value in the media registry ...
And this is after resetting UUID, and trashing previous XML files, and adding.

If you have already tried to insert the guest in what ever manor you then first must unregister/remove the previous try (use the media manager) and I would suggest closing VirtualBox down and waiting 20 seconds before you try doing it again.
