Machine folder

Post by Melab »

I am running Mac OS X 10.5.8. The folder where the machine files are stored is /Users/[ME]/Application Support/VirtualBox but I want them to be stored in /Users/[ME]/Library/VirtualBox/Machines. How do I change this? All my hard disks are stored in /Users/[ME]/Library/VirtualBox/HardDisks.

You seem to be describing ancient history. VBox has not used "Machines" and "Harddisk" folders for approximately 2 years. The very concept is obsolete since VM folders are now self contained - the disk file goes into the VM folder along with all other host files related to that VM. Hence we have a number of VM folders, and a default parent folder "VirtualBoxVMs" which new VM folders are created. While you could override this to refer to HardDisk or Machine folders, the idea of forcing VBox v4 or later to do so is... frankly ludicrous.

Perhaps you should mention what version of VirtualBox you are using. And, if it's v4 or later, tell us why you want to force it to use an obsolete and inappropriate folder structure.
