XP Guest boots and then just shows blue screen with high CPU

Post by poldim »

I was using the XP VM SENA_v5.05_v3 for about 9 months and it was rock solid. I then went out and created a new Win 7 VM, SENA_Win7.vbox and have been using it exclusively for a few weeks. Yesterday I went to fire up the old XP VM and was disappointed. The VM launches, shows the XP boot animation, and then where you would expect to go to the login screen, it just shows a solid blue color. Any ideas?

You have posted the VBoxSVC log, but it's actually the VM log that we need. The VM log file is called "VBox.log", and can be found in the "Logs" subfolder of your VM folder. Post it as a .zip attachment please, do not paste it into a message.

Oh, and be sure the VM is shut down before you collect the log.

I have the same or very similar problem in VirtualBox 4.3.24r98716 with one of several VMs copied from another PC running VBox 4.3.12r93733.
Startup, login and shutdown are displayed properly.
But "desktop" with menues and dialogboxes are shown in blue or blue palett colors plus black and white. Texts are always unreadable and no images or icons are readable.
Here is the VBox.log

Try updating the graphics drivers on the new host. Not every PC has good OpenGL drivers.

If you want to continue this conversation then start a new topic - don't hijack a "similar" but 3 year old topic.

Didn't know there was a time limit. Sorry.
Worked without 3D-acceleration thou if someone is interrested. Over and out.

There is no time limit as such, but discussion of a bug from 3 years ago is highly unlikely to be relevant to your problem with a current VBox version (VirtualBox is being continuously developed). Also, if it was the same problem then your symptoms should be identical, not just similar. On both grounds you would be better starting your own topic and providing a proper description.
