In short, I'm an independent C++ developer switching to cross-platform and planning to acquire a new PC(s). My actual ones (some on a LAN, but quite old considering my new direction) are AMD-based (for example, an Abit KN9 with AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and 4GB RAM) and I would like to be sure that all my Virtualbox's machines will run without any problem nor adjustement, since I've a lot of any OS'es (all Windows 32-bit and 64-bit, all the major Linux distros and - even if forbiden, but an independent dev cannot buy hardware for any project - OSx86, each being in several editions, several languages and several configurations/states... So it would be impossible to reinstall and fine tune everything without stopping to work for some weeks.
Thus, my question is : Does all my virtual machines will work on any new PC for sure ? For example, knowing I'm actually on AMD, can I switch to Intel without any concern (mainly about Macbiiiiip - I didn't said:) ? Is there some points I should take care (chipset brandmark, number of core, etc) ?
Also, and to finish, my current host is Windows 7 Pro 32-bit, but I will change for Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (I'll keep the actual in dual boot during transition). So, will I have to change something in my virtual machines settings (unless the allowed RAM I'll increase for sure, of course) ?
Hoping you'll consider my request, in spite of the black sheep in my park
