Guest Frequently Freezes

Guest frequently freezes.
Pressing any key (shift, ctrl, alt, space, etc.) in the console thaws immediately.
This issue has persisted for at least the prior two versions. Was hoping it would have been fixed by now.
Version: 4.2.4
Host: Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit on DELL Inspiron 5100 with 2 GB RAM
Guest: pfSense (FreeBSD 8.3) http://pfSense.org/ with 256 MB RAM

Controller: IDE Controller
IDE Primary Master: Router - pfSense 2.1 Dev.vdi (Normal, 2.00 GB)
IDE Secondary Master (CD/DVD): VBoxGuestAdditions.iso (52.81 MB)
Network
Adapter 1:
Intel PRO/1000 MT Server (Bridged adapter, Broadcom 440x 10/100 Integrated Controller)
