REATTACH VDI detach and attach same vdi to same VM

my current problem is:

try detaching and reattaching THE SAME VDI TO THE SAME VM.

it complains about "same UUID allready taken".

yes of course it's the same UUID...

any solutions for that?

maybe i am too stupid.

of course i could copy it (different UUID)

or "release it", change the UUID, and then attach it again.

but this is not super conveniant, is it?

Shut down Virtualbox after detaching the media. Wait 30 seconds before starting it again.

Incidentally, detaching media from a storage controller does NOT remove it from the media registry.

Do not detach storage if a VM which uses snapshots - that error may not be recoverable.
