Ubuntu guest very slow in Windows 7 host

Hi all, I hope that one expert can help me solve a problem that I have been unable to resolve several weeks.

I created a virtual machine in VirtualBox with Ubuntu 12.04 on a Windows 7 32-bit as host. I've put a 1.5 Gb RAM and the host becomes also with 1.5 Gb The problem is that this virtual machine is too slow. Par give you an idea, in a terminal to put Tab is delayed for at least 4 seconds. Seeing the performance, the% CPU reaches 70% with just open the terminal and 100% if I open firefox, but the% MEM is very small.

I've tried changing the percentage of RAM allocated from the virtual little to much on the host, vice versa, and various combinations, however I fail big changes. The strange thing is that I have also a virtual machine with Windows 7, and yet if it has a consistent speed.

The video memory also have been testing from 1 Mb to 128 Mb GuestAdditions've also installed. But speed is just as slow.

My processor is an Intel Core 2 Duo T5550 1.83 GHz to 3.00 Gb You think it's by the microprocessor?

Any idea to solve it?

Thank you very much for your time

Drop the assigned RAM to 1024 instead of 2GB. You are over committing the available memory.

Since you don't have hardware virtualization in your CPU it's still going to be slow though since you are using software instead of hardware virtualization.
