Ok, I am new to the virtualbox and I had no problem installing Windows XP with Linux Mint 13 Mate.

However, installing third-party programs is another issue. From what I have read using a CD/DVD is a matter of pointing to the drive from within the VB to install.

My problem is how do I install a downloaded program within the Virtualbox/windows inside Linux. I have searched and I cannot find anything about it ... maybe I am using the

wrong terms or something. Anyway, I need to install Quicktime for Windows in this environment any help would be appreciated!

If you download a program from inside the Windows guest, then you follow the instructions given by the people who provided the download. Typically the app comes as a .exe, in which case you double click it. If the download was in .zip form then you need to unpack the contents and look for installation instructions inside - typically there's a small text file giving advice. If the software is sufficiently simple then it doesn't need to be installed at all, just unpacked and then run the .exe file.

ps. This is bordering on basic "Windows for Dummies" tuition, which would be beyond the scope of these forums, so I can't offer much more help than I've provided above. You would be well advised to find a knowledgeable friend and get some usage tips from him/her... or come to think of it, "Windows for Dummies" might well be a real book...
