I have VirtualBox running on a iMac 2011 (OSX 10.6.8 ). I have a virtual machine that had Windows XP on it and working fine, connecting to the internet no problems.
After recently upgrading my XP version to Windows 8 I could not connect to the internet from the VM any more.
Running through the trouble shooting for networks tells me:
"Windows could not detect a properly installed network adapter. If you have a network adapter, you will need to re-install the driver""
I'm not sure if this is a Windows thing or a VirtualBox on iMac thing. For a start, I'm not sure which network drivers would be applicable for the iMac.
Anyone have any ideas?
Mark

Re: Windows 8 has no network drivers
The network drivers for the Win 8 vm have nothing to do with the Mac. They are installed in the Win 8 OS for the emulated NIC in the vm, not the physical NIC in the host.
Win 8 will have the required drivers built in, but if you upgraded from XP you are probably using an old emulated NIC. Go to the Settings page of your vm, select Network then Advanced. From the dropdown list select Intel PRO 1000 MT Desktop. When you reboot Win 8 it should load the driver for it.
