Problem with windows8

Post by noelss_ss »

Hi. I've got virtualbox 2.4 in my Windows8 pc with 8gb RAM and AMD Dual Core E-500. I'm trying to install Ubuntu with 2GB RAM but it runs too slowly and I can't install it. What can I do? How can I get higher speed or what can I do to solve the problem?

Post the guests log file (as an attachment)
See Online Users Manual for the location of the file.

List the version of Ubuntu you are installing.

Code: Select all

00:01:45.112506 HWACCM: No VT-x or AMD-V CPU extension found. Reason VERR_SVM_DISABLED
Enable hardware virtualization in the hosts bios.

Plus you really should be using version 4.2.4 (has updated code for WIndows 8 ) instead of 4.2.2.

You need to check your manufactures manual to see how to do it for sure or contact the place where you got the computer. I have no idea what you have or how to tell you to enable it. Usually a special key or combination of keys at boot to get into the bios setup screen.

The error message says it is disabled. This means you have it but it is not enabled. You can run 32-bit Ubuntu without VT-x/AMD-v but it will be really slow.
Like I said find out how to turn it on and your problems should go away.
