Extension Pack Install/Uninstall error

I have just upgraded to the latest version of Virtual Box but when I attempt to update the extension pack I receive the following error message:
Failed to install the Extension Pack C:/Users/Peter Elliot/.VirtualBox/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.2.4.vbox-extpack.
The installer failed with exit code 1: VBoxExtPackHelperApp.exe: error: Failed to rename the extension pack directory: VERR_ALREADY_EXISTS
rcExit=1.
Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)

I have attempted to uninstall the existing Extension Pack via the Preferences tab with the same message. I did also receive a message about a problem withe the USB 2.0 controller but I disabled this in the setting tab as advised by the pop up dialogue box.
I'm running VB on a Win7 PC with XP installed in VB. Any advice on how to proceed please. Please note that I'm not hugely IT literate but that I have managed to successfully have VB running for a number of years now without any problems.
