Help needed with Netgear WNA1100 not working on Vbox

As the title says I need some help with my Netgear WNA1100 (Atheros AR9271). When I connect it to VirtualBox it works fine but does not show up in my Linux Mint 13 guest OS when I run lsusb in the console it show up in there but nowhere else and it is unusable. It works great on windows 7 x64 with the latest drivers I can fined for (Atheros AR9271) chip (driver: 9.2.0.19) and it works on my dual booted Linux Mint 13 as well as the live CD/USB version. I have read this post ( Known incompatibilities with 3rd party drivers ) about incompatible 3rd party drivers and Atheros is listed as one that causes host BSOD's but I'm not having any BSOD's or even any Kernel panics. I can provided pics if need as soon as i figure out how to post them. Any info provided helps
