I've got Windows 7 (64-bit) Home Premium running as a guest in VirtualBox installed on a Windows 8 Pro (64-bit) based system. Everything seems to be working well except that the the sound from my Creative 5.1 speakers is close to non-existent, even when running in simple 2-speaker stereo mode with the volume turned up to maximum.
The appropriate extension pack has been installed.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this?

Just an update to my last post. After trying various things, sound is now OK in two-speaker stereo mode. However, choosing any other mode causes the sound level to decrease and the playing of music to slow down considerably.
