Vbox version 4.2.4
Host: Win 7 Pro 64bit on a Dell E6510 laptop
Guest: Win 8 Pro 64 bit
The host has a built in SD card slot. I put all my music on a SD card and have it permanently inserted into the SD slot. I now have a Win8 guest running in VM and want to use try the Music app on the Windows 8 OS to listen to music. But this requires that the music is in the Win8 Music Library. When I try to add the link \\vboxsvr\<my share link> to the Library, it just complains that indexing couldnt be done, and therefore cannot add the linked folder to the Library.
And I also noticed that I am unable to access the host's SD card directly from Vbox guest. Of course, I can use "Shared folder" to access it, but then it is accessed via \\vboxsvr\... What I think may work with the Library issue is if I can access the SD card direct from the Win8 guest.
I've searched the net for answers but haven't found solution to this. Appreciate the help, folks.

Re: Adding Win7host SD card to Win8guest Library
In general, you cannot directly access physical devices from a VM. That's the definition of the "V" in VM.
The only exceptions are physical devices which attach to a standard bus type which the VM does virtualize, e.g. serial/lpt devices, usb devices. I assume your sd card doesn't qualify.
