using virtualbox 4.2.4 in win7 64bit host. Tried to import an ovf VM(centos) that was exported from VMWare workstation. the error msg as below:
Failed to import appliance D:\centos-6.ovf.
Error reading "D:\centos-6.ovf": unknown element "CoresPerSocket"; under Item element, line 33.
Result Code: VBOX_E_FILE_ERROR (0x80BB0004)

searched this error online but no clue found...

Normally the VMware guest needs to be configured/converted to properly export where it can be imported in VirtualBox. First thing is to remove the VMware tools and then they have a converter to run on it before you export. I don't use VMware so you would need to search their site on what you need and how to use it.
