Export , Import across different versions

Post by BlueSkies2 »

Current Virtual box Version : 4.1.18 r78361
Guest OS : Solaris 10 (64bit) Version August 2011
Host OS : Windows 7

I am going to format my Windows 7 and re-install the OS again due to some issues.
I have a Solaris 10 VM . Before I uninstall the Host OS , I'll be exporting this VM using the 'Export Appliance' option and creating the .ova file.
After the re-install , I would like to use the latest version of Virtual Box which is 4.2.4 . But, will this new version recognize the .ova file created using the old version (4.1.18 )

Why not simply copy the VM folder that has all of the necessary files & control files.

Put it back when finished installing new and use the add feature.
