Another 0x0000005D error.

Post by jsteel »

I have a Windows 8 ISO. Using default settings I boot and get the following error:

Your PC needs to restart.
Please hold down the power button.
Error Code: 0x0000005D
Parameters:
0x03062505
0x756E6547
0x49656E69
0x6C65746E

I've read many posts about the same error code but any solutions I have found have not helped in my case. I am running VirtualBox 4.2.4 on 32bit Linux.

Please see my attached log.

Many thanks

Some salient parts of the log...

Although I can see it in the log, please confirm that you have the PAE/NX option enabled in the VM recipe?

I admit that I find this information contradictory. You appear to have VT-x and PAE/NX enabled, NX appears to be available to the host, but not the guest. IO APIC is enabled too.

I see the log says that 64bit is not available. Is it the 32bit or 64bit version of Win8 you are trying to install?

Someone with more knowledge of (current) low level PC stuff than me will need to comment.

Yes, Enable PAE/NX is ticked.

It is 32 bit Windows 8.

Thanks
