Using- Windows XP with all current updates/service packs; VirtualBox version 4.1.22. I can only start the 1st of 2 virtual machines. Upon starting the 2nd machine I get the following message:
A critical error has occurred while running the virtual machine and the machine execution has been stopped. For help, please see the Community section on [the virtual box website- my edit] or your support contract. Please provide the contents oF the log File mox. log and the image File VEox. pig, which you can find in the D:. . . . . . . . .\Iogs directory, as well as a description of what you were doing when this error happened. Note that you can also access the above Files by selecting Show Log from the Machine menu of the main Virtualbox window. Press OK if you want to power off the machine or press Ignore if you want to leave it as is for debugging. Please note that debugging requires special knowledge and tools, so it is recommended to press OK now.
Anybody out there know how to fix this problem?

Re: 2nd VM will not power on
Does the same thing happen if you start the "other" machines first?

Re: 2nd VM will not power on
Hey BillG, after I posted my reply to your question it occurred to me that I should start the 2nd machine 1st and then try starting the 1st machine 2nd. It failed. So there is an issue in that both machines cannot be started. With 2 gigs of RAM, I know that memory could be an issue. However, I have run both machines before. And before running the machines I always stop all non-essential processes.

Re: 2nd VM will not power on
It's a problem of arithmetic :-
I.e. if you want to run multiple VMs at once then you need way more RAM.
A rule of thumb is that you shouldn't use more than 50% of available host RAM. In your case you used a minimum of 768MB+24MB=792MB, which is 118% of your hosts available RAM.VBox.log wrote: 00:00:02.864 Host RAM: 2038MB RAM, available: 673MB
...
00:00:04.486 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000030000000 (805 306 368, 768 MB) [ this is what you allocated to the VM ]
...
00:00:04.487 VRamSize <integer> = 0x0000000001800000 (25 165 824, 24 MB)
I.e. if you want to run multiple VMs at once then you need way more RAM.

Re: 2nd VM will not power on
You're trying to start a VM with 768MB assigned when only 673MB is available (it's all in the log). That's just not going to work. You either have to add more RAM or reduce the resource requirements.
