virtual box wont recognize cd
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
I will start my search right away. Just as another question: I just went back to make sure I had enabled passthrough but now I can't select the option to enable it. I can see it, I just cant check the box. Is this normal?
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
I'm having trouble finding the log files. My understanding from the online user's manual is that I should be able to access a window of all my log files by selecting my VM, then clicking, show log files from under the "machine" tab. However, I cannot find the "machine tab" when I am selecting my virtual machine

Top of the VirtualBox main manager.
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
I'm sorry. It was a mistake when I was typing. I didn't mean to say I couldn't find the machine tab, I meant to say I couldn't find the "show logs" once in the machine tab. I see the following options upon pulling down the tab: "settings, take snapshot, take screen shot, session info, disable mouse integration, insert, pause, reset, and ACPI shutdown"

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
the guest must be selected. You can try (ctl+L) ((not sure about Mac))
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
Yep, that worked. Would you like me to post it so you may see? If so, how would you like me to do this?

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
I believe this is the most recent one. Let me know if it doesn't work or if I need to post the ".1 .2 or .3" versions

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
You need to install the guest additions (in safe mode) and select to install the 3D drivers.
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
Ok, so how do I do that? Do i run the game under safe mode?
Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
Passthrough has somehow disabled itself. If I enter the settings menu without the game loaded into the virtual drive, then the option to select the disc does not appear. If I load the game into the virtual drive then I can select the cd; however, I cannot select passthrough. Ill take a screenshot of what I am seeing when the game is in the VM drive.

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
You know there is a manual you can use to look this stuff up, right?
You start the XP guest and press the F8 key repeatedly the second you click on the start button until it opens a menu where you can select to start in safe mode.
Once started you click on the Devices tab at the top and select install guest additions.
Make sure to read everything and select to install the 3D drivers.
You can't change anything while the guest is running.

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
Installed the 3D Assistance Software and the game ran a few more seconds before giving me a new message. However, the old screen which used to disappear is now held in the back ground.
New error Message: The procedure point DecodePointer could not be located in the dynamic link library Kernel32.dll.
Thanks again for putting up with me, perryg.

Re: virtual box wont recognize cd
No problem but it looks like we have come to the end.
Not all games play in a Virtual environment, and I don't play games so you will need to wait until someone that does sees your problem.

Unfortunately I am new to the game world too. Thanks for all your help perry.
On another note, would you recommend reposting the problem or will people read this far down into a conversation and pick up the discussion?
Thanks again,
Sb23
