Another Win 8 Problem error 0x0000005d
Another Win 8 Problem error 0x0000005d
Hi,
I am not able to install WIN 8. in virtaulbox. I was able to install WIN8 Preview in the same laptop before without virtualbox. After WIN 8 download in virtualbox with Win 7 on it there is an error message when the installation is complete and machine reboot.
error 0x0000005d
Parameters.
0x0306170A
0x756E6547
0x49656E69
0x6X65746t.
I was able to instal WIN 8 Preview in the same laptop but different HD. I upgrade to the lates revision. I do have PAE/NX select it in guess WIN 7.
I am getting the above error when booting with the Preview DVD or upgrading WIN 7 from the windows store.
Any Idea how to fix this issue?
Kind regards,
Al

Enable VT-x/AMD-v (hardware virtualization) in your bios.

Hi.
This is Intel 32. I installed Wind8 Preview on an spare HD and work fine. I do not have the option available in virtualbox.

Hi,
Sorry to hijack, but I have the same issue; the preview worked, but the final release does not, and comes up with the same error. All this stuff other posts say to enable in the BIOS is enabled. I'm running an Intel Core i3 CPU, it's a fairly new computer, 32 bit Linux OS.

Unfortunately Microsoft changed the hardware requirements somewhat during the development cycle, so the final release fails where the initial preview(s) worked.jsteel wrote:Sorry to hijack, but I have the same issue; the preview worked, but the final release does not, and comes up with the same error.
Without seeing the VBox.log file, it's anyone's guest whether VT-x is available or enabled on your system. All this stuff other posts say to enable in the BIOS is enabled. I'm running an Intel Core i3 CPU, it's a fairly new computer, 32 bit Linux OS.

Post the log here as a .zip attachment. There is no need to post an offsite url.

@jsteel. You have allocated 1024MB to the guest when your host only has 800MB available.

Your CPU does not support Hardware Virtualization and at least at this point is required even for the 32 bit version of VirtualBoxaberrio wrote:Hi,

@mpack, OK maybe I had too much stuff open at that time, but I have tried it again with 1.5GB free (I have 3GB total) and I have the same issue. I even tried reducing the RAM to 512mb but it has not helped.

Of course it didn't help. See the answer from Perryg above.

Re: Another Win 8 Problem error 0x0000005d
@jsteel: your problem has now deviated from the OP (your log showed that you do have VT-x), which means you are now officially hijacking this thread and causing confusion. Please start your own thread to discuss your problem.
Re: Another Win 8 Problem error 0x0000005d
Hi Perryg,
You said that is not compatible with WIN8 at all or just with virtualbox. I just installed a commercial version to an spare HD without issues.
Kind reagrds,
Al
