vt-x/amd-v error on Win 7 64 host

I had been running VB for a couple years on my machine with no problems. I just decided to do a fresh install of the OS and when I reinstalled VB I started getting the vt-x/amd-v error whenever I tried loading or installing a virtual machine. The strange thing is that the first time I ran VB on the new install I used an image created with the application disk2VHD of my old system. When I booted I may have gotten the vt-x/amd-v error, I'm not sure, but it continued loading and I was able to run the VM with no problems. I then closed the VM and was unable to open it again. I thought it might have gotten corrupted so I tried a fresh copy of the image and it didn't work either.
The strange thing is that I have not made any changes on the system since the new install, meaning I haven't changed any virtualization in the BIOS on my machine and it seemed to work perfectly fine before.
So what can I do to get this program up and running?

And my system is running an Intel Q6600 64bit processor and Abit IP35 Pro motherboard, if any of that matters.

The message means what it says: VT-x has been selected in the guest you tried to run, but the host VT-x feature is not available.
For VT-x to work it must be :-
- Available for your CPU type (you can check this online).
- Enabled in your host PC BIOS.
- Not already being used by another VM platform (e.g. Hyper-v or "XP Mode" or a debug tool).
- Selected in the VirtualBox VM.
One of these is wrong in your setup, probably 3.

Thanks for the reply. I can't think how it could be used by any other VM platform as I don't have anything else installed. This is a fresh install.
The strange thing is that I installed this on another machine I have that where VB was working and now I'm getting the same error. I even tried rolling back the install version thinking it might be related to that.
The only common factors are some new Windows security fixes, which I have seen associated with this specific problem as well. They said it was working fine, installed the updates and then VB started giving this error. He didn't mention what update it is, so I can't say for sure. Is there any way to sort through this kind of thing?

Are you sure that you installed nothing else but VirtualBox on the new install? No Virus software, Google Chrome, Etc?
What about Hyper-v or "XP Mode"? Those will cause this as mpack said and is usually installed as a choice.

I did install Chrome browser before VB but no Hyper-v or XP mode.
