Have my guest setup for 3-d graphics acceleration, with 128MB VRAM. When I switched by Ubuntu to 2D mode, my instance does not crash.

Have been using Ubuntu in 3D mode for several months without any issue, just after today's update 2.0 which claims to fix several Mac OSX graphics issues this problem started happening.

This is happening to me as well.

I have been using 3D mode for quite a while and now I have to drop it down to 2D to get my Ubuntu 12.04 VM to log me in. IF I leave it in 3D mode it will boot and allow me to type my password in but then it crashes and says 'aborted' exactly as Aleman states.

I don't want to but considering how things are showing up darker than normal in 2D mode I am inclined to explore exporting my virtual machine to something else

Hi.

I have exactly the same issue. Mac OS X 10.8.2 12C3012. I had used Ubuntu 12.04 guest during a while with no problems. Now it crashed when I login into 3D Unity. It still seems to work if I start Unity 2D although 3D is enabled. I don't know if it's a VirtualBox or OS X issue.

Code: Select all

$ /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p
OpenGL vendor string: Humper
OpenGL renderer string: Chromium
OpenGL version string: 2.1 Chromium 1.9

Not software rendered: yes
Not blacklisted: yes
GLX fbconfig: yes
GLX texture from pixmap: yes
GL npot or rect textures: yes
GL vertex program: yes
GL fragment program: yes
GL vertex buffer object: yes
GL framebuffer object: yes
GL version is 1.4+: yes

Unity 3D supported: yes
Any updates on this?

Regards.
Erny
