Hi
I use several USB devices exclusively for the Windows guest machine. This worked like a charm with my MacMini up until I got my new MacBook Pro which only has USB 3.0 Ports (xHCI). It seems that Virtual Box is not capable of correctly allocate the devices into the guest. I have USB filter activated so that the Host (10.8.2) does not do anything with it.
Since I need the devices kind of urgently I bought a Apple display (well, It's cool anyway) with the hope that the USB 2.0 Ports on the display (over Thunderbold with EHCI) would solve my issue. It turned out, that it does not.
Status: I can not use my USB devices inside the Windows guest. It sees the device but gives me Error 43 or something like takt.
Possible Reasons I see: Mac OS 10.8.x or xHCI on the host (even if it is not used for the device)
Are there similar experiences?!
USB Ports in VM with USB 3.0 on Host
Re: USB Ports in VM with USB 3.0 on Host
Yes I also have same issue, I'm quite new in Virtualbox anyway. I just bought a rMBP (with Mountain Lion 10.8.2) and installed VB with Windows XP guess, with all Guess Addition and extension pack installed. I could only get a USB stick work but my USB external hard drive does not work. As soon as I plug in USB external hard disk, in Windows XP guess it pop up a message "There is a problem with USB device....' I'll have to retry tonight and paste the exact message here again.
I hope some expert can give some opinion.

If the guest is Windows 7, get USB3 drivers at http://www.sevenforums.com/performance- ... 3-0-a.html
