Install Virtual Box on Windows8

Hello, I try to install VirtualBox 4.2 on a Windows 8 Pro. After the installation and a reboot, my system did not boot. I must use the system recovery to fix the Problem?
But where is the Problem? Is it the HyperV Support which is enabled in Win8Pro?

regards
Chris

Certainly having Hyper-V enabled will cause you problems with VirtualBox. I would not expect the problem you discuss, but Hyper-V running will certainly prevent the use of hardware virtualization. If Hyper-V is enabled, the hypervisor starts at boot-time and locks the hardware virtualization feature.

You will need to remove Hyper-V or modify the boot loader so that the hypervisor does not load when you want to run VirtualBox.

Hyper-V in Windows8 Pro is not enabled by default you have to enable it yourself. Just like Anti-virus though, 1 virtualization platform at a time per bare metal machine.

This is probably a permissions issue. You must have admin rights to install parts of VirtualBox. Use "Run as administrator" when running the installer, and make sure that you are prompted to keep drivers and DLLs considered suspect by Win8 (i.e. they must not be automatically rejected).
