Result code E_Fail (0x80004005) VirtualBox version 4.1.20

Hi All,

I have an issue with a VM. It is giving me an error code E_Fail (0x80004005). I tried searching the forums for a solution and came accross a user who suggested to rename the PREV file to and XML file. This did not seem to work. In the virtual machines folder I have the vmd and a PREV file and a TMP file.


Any suggestions?

Renaming the "-prev" file is not a magic incantation, you use it when needed, i.e. when the usual ".vbox" file is lost or corrupted somehow (the "-prev" file is a backup).

Posting a screenshot of the error dialog may help. If the VM starts and then fails then post the VM log file - as a .zip attachment. The VM log file is called "VBox.log" and can be found in the "Logs" subfolder of the VM folder.
