USB Not Connecting to Guest

Post by MrSchism »

I just did a clean install of Virtualbox on this Windows 7 64-bit laptop I have. I have a Windows XP (SP3, 32-bit) desktop with Virtualbox installed as well. Knowing how the program works, I installed the extension pack (4.2.4r81684) on the Windows 7 machine, Enabled USB, set up a USB filter, and even reformatted my USB device to being Fat32/Swap (it was Ext4/swap) because Windows wouldn't even closely recognize it as it was. The device shows in my device drop-down, but I always get the same thing when I select it:

Code: Select all

Failed to attach the USB device PNY Technologies USB 2.0 FD [8192] to the virtual machine Mint13.

USB device 'PNY Technologies USB 2.0 FD' with UUID {7a8d54d8-2743-446d-a0a2-0a03764305cc} is busy with a previous request. Please try again later.

Callee:     IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
I've tried disabling USB2.0 from both the VM settings and from the BIOS which I read elsewhere. That did not work. I've reinstalled the extension. That did not work.

The filter and device both work on my XP system. They just seem to fail on my 7 machine.

Any help would be appreciated.

turn off your host, unplug the USB device, then boot your host, start your VM, and only when your VM is started, plug the USB device.
Any luck this way?
