virtual network

Post by ankitjain168 »

Hi this is my first post on forums.I have just registered.
I am having some problems in virtual networking.

I have host machine as Windows 7 (32bit) and Guest OS as Windows Server 2008 (32bit)
Now i am trying to communicate between them.but i am not able to do so.
I have selected Bridged option in network adapters of guest os and
On the Host pc i have bridged my physical lan card and Virtual Box Host Only Adapter(it was automatically created).......by right clicking on both of them and than bridge.

Now i am unable to get ping from both sides :( :(
Please can anyone help me to sort out this....and can you give a more detail of virtualbox networking types and when and which type to use where...i have googled and referred to manual also but didn't understand much....

I am a newbie in networking but want to learn..I hope you understand my problem

Waiting for reply....Thanx

I'm sorry, I don't understand that at all.

Undo whatever changes you made to your host.
Shut down your guest.
Set its network interface to "Bridged"
Start your guest.
Done.

The guest will now appear as a new computer on your network. Communication works in the usual way, just as if it was a normal PC.
If it still does not work, first check your firewall rules.

For Host-Only, NAT etc; the manual has detailed documentation.
A new account for an old user.
