Nokia N8 gets Unknown device on Windows 7 and Vbox 4.2.4
I´m running Vbox 4.2.4 with Windows 7 on it. The host OS is Mac OS mountain Lyon 10.8.2. My Nokia N8 is not being recognized by Windows, it always gets "Unknown device" message. I have an USB filter in the Vbox pointing to the N8.
This problem begun to appear after I migrated to Vbox 4.1. Before that, it used to happen but after trying to connect the phone 3 times, it was recognized in a correct way.
¿Any help for this one?
Best regards

I installed a virtual machine with Windows 8 Enterprise build 9200 and the problem still there: Unknown USB device when connecting the Nokia N8 (filter active). I must say that this issue is not present in a "Hardware" machine using Windows 7. The cellphone is working perfectly there.

Connecting a simple Sony Cybershot W370 digital camera is having the same response: Unknown USB device in Windows 8 and Windows 7. Please solve this issue.

This is happening in two different machines:fergomez74 wrote:Connecting a simple Sony Cybershot W370 digital camera is having the same response: Unknown USB device in Windows 8 and Windows 7. Please solve this issue.
1 Macbook Pro 2009
1 Macbook Pro 2012
Both running Virtualbox 4.2.4 and MacOS Mountain Lion 10.8.2
The VIrtualbox 4.2.4 needs to be fixed asap.

Re: Nokia N8 gets Unknown device on Windows 7 and Vbox 4.2.4
The problem is happening with a simple Sony Digital Camera, so the problem is not specific to the Nokia N8. I also happened when installing Windows 8 from "scratch" and connecting the Sony camera and the N8 to the Windows 8. I´m finding that USB devices are very difficult to handle when using Virtualbox and Windows 7 or 8.Really disappointing.ChipMcK wrote:you have read http://discussions.nokia.com/t5/Nokia-S ... -p/1476154, yes?

I'm noticing that the issue is not only happening when connecting the N9kia N8, it´s happening for every USB device,it doesn´t matter which type. This is incredible!!!

Try the installing the Extension Pack. That allows accessing USB devices. Also, try RTFMfergomez74 wrote: it´s happening for every USB device,it doesn´t matter which type. This is incredible!!!

I also am experiencing the same problem when attempting to use a variety of USB cameras.
None of them work.
The list includes Logitech cameras, built in iSight, and several other USB WebCams. The cameras are recognized and the drivers are installed. However, there is no video and no sound.
I am using VirtualBox v.2.6r82870 with the latest Extension Pack and yes, I have RTFM!!!
The host is a MacPro running OS-X 10.7 and also a MacBookPro running OS-X 10.8.
All the cameras install and run under OS-X and Win 7 host. So I know that is not the issue.
I have read all the posts about this problem and none of the suggestions to date has helped.
I have spent several days trying to solve this problem with no success
If anyone knows how to resolve this issue, I would very much appreciate your help.
Thanks.
