Hi all,
am testing some linux operating systems and samba to see whats a good one to use for a file server.
I am having trouble setting up a virutal machine that can access the internet and have full normal access to our network, as well as be accessible to all computers on our network.
Hope you guys can help,
Thanks in advance for any comments and suggestions.

Use Bridged networking. The guest will appear as just another desktop/server on your LAN.
If you are having specific problems with the guest (e.g. domain authentication) then you might be better off asking in a forum specific to the GNU/Linux you are running, or in the Linus Guests forum if you are sure it's a VBox issue.

Thanks for the tip "Twisted Lucidity"
However now I have a new problem, when I enable bridged networking in network options.
I get the following crash when I try to start the virtual machine.
Running on Windows xp pro SP3, with full upates.
I see there is a newer version available, I will download and install.

Re: Share network and Internet with Virtual server for testi
Just installed new version of Virtual Box 4.1.22-80657-Win
No more errors when starting virtual machine with bridged networking enabled.
Bridged networking does indeed give me the effect I want.
My virtual computer is now fully available to my network, and has full access to the internet.
Thanks very much "Twisted Lucidity"
