Check chapter 11.2.2 in the user manual.

Hi all,
I had the same restart problem while installing a Win2k guest in VB. I tried the solution present in the User manual, in the Troubleshooting section (just not 11 anymore), that is, setting the drive interrupt delay to 1ms. But I got this error message:

ERROR: Could not find a registered machine named 'rWin2k'
Details: code VBOX_E_OBJECT_NOT_FOUND (0x80bb0001), component VirtualBox, interface IVirtualBox, callee nsISupports
Context: "FindMachine(Bstr(a->argv[0]), machine.asOutParam())" at line 583 of file VBoxManageMisc.cpp

I double-checked spelling, copied the machine name from the VB settings string and tried the VBoxManage setextradata command with VB unloaded and loaded with VM off and on, with same results. I also tried "VBoxManage list vms" to make sure VB listed the VM as I thought of it, plus changing VM name to the ID shown...
Could someone give me a clue on why VB can't find my VM?

Best regards,
Emerson

How do you run the command? If you run VB as your user and the command with sudo, then it's normal that you get this error as root doesn't have your VMs. But the work-around shouldn't be needed anymore. I've installed Windows 2000 Pro a few times without any modifications and errors.

Thank you, Sasquatch. That was it! Think I'm getting addicted to "sudo"...
I managed to install Win2k as guest too over a couple different Ubuntu hosts (6.06, 8.04 and 10.04, AFAI can remember), but now, over Debian Mind (LMDE), I got the problem. Since the manual mentions it's a Windoze driver problem, it probably won't be "fixed" in VB. Unless someone gets a clever workaround that works only during Windoze installation...
Best regards

Like I said, I haven't had issues. But what SP level does your installation have? Mine has SP4 integrated, maybe even the roll-up after that and that might be the difference in a failure and a success.
