Windows XP installed fine, and is fully updated. But nothing I plug into the USB ports is recognized and available in XP.

Searching for USB in this forum and in the VB help file came up empty.

Is there someone that can help me select the correct settings so USB devices can be read?

Thanks for the references. I checked them out, and.... well.... Most of the solutions are well above my knowledge to accomplish.

I looked at the time I've spent so far trying to get the scanner to work. I looked at all the other things I need to get done before winter really sets in, plus other things I want to do. And all of it wasn't helped by the slowness of a netbook.

So.....

I ordered a scanner. LOL It's 4-5 times the quality of results, faster, runs natively with my Mac, so for me I think this is the best option.

I have to be honest, this experience has made me glad I purchased a commercial VM program for my Mac when I purchased the Mac. I plugged the scanner in to the Mac, connected to the VM, and it worked without a hitch.
