mounting SD card on VM

Post by mans »

I am using VB on a windows 7 64 and guest OS is ubuntu 10.04.
I am not able to read/write SD card in Ubuntu and I am getting error that the device is buy and error code is:

Result Code:
E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component:
HostUSBDevice
Interface:
IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}

How can I make it accessible in VB?

It would be safer to use a shared folder but if you must access it direct you would need to use RAW access. See user manual and be sure to read all warnings.

I know this post is a little old but I found it at the top of the search results. Sadly it was of little help.

BUT...

I found the easiest way to directly work with SD cards on a virtual box machine is to use a USB card reader and pass the USB straight through. This is so much easier than trying to get the virtual machine to directly access a built in media card reader. That is unless your built in reader is detected as a USB device (some are).
