BootCamp 3.3 Control panel not working

BootCamp control panel works normally in BootCamp. (system info in sig)

Using BootCamp partition via VB, the BootCamp control panel fails to open with permissions problem.

Fixing the permissions problem, the control panel opens but only with non-functional brightness control. In BootCamp it is everything but the brightness control in the control panel.

Anyone got any ideas how this works and how to fix - ?registry hack. Not having any luck googling so far..... Interestingly, the registry entries for Apple drivers say version 4.0.0.1.
