Invalid Settings Detected (VBox Preferences)

Post by VCS »

Hello

I've recently switched from VMWare fusion to VBox. Fusion has gone down hill and i simply can't deal with it anymore.

Anyways

I've installed VirtualBox on my Mac running Mountain Lion. When i go into preferences I see "Invalid Settings Detected". This is a beyond unhelpful message as i dont know what settings are invalid. The OK button that allows me to save my settings is greyed out.

The only way i can remedy this issue is by adding a Host-Only Network and configuring it with DHCP. Once i do this, the error message goes away and i can click OK and save my settings. When i go back into Preferences again however, the message is back. The network is still configured exactly as it was when the message just went away.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance!

Apparently the fix is to put anything in the boxes for proxies, then turn off proxies again.

Search VB bugtracker for your post title or #11089
(I tried to post u-r-l but i'm not allowed)

This makes the error go away, but now wont VirtualBox try to connect to the internets though a proxy?

EDIT: Yes, it does. However, if you just fill in the box for address and port and then disable use of the proxy, the issue is fixed.

Weird.
