I wasn't quite sure if I should put this in the Using VirtualBox or this forum, but since I'm using Windows 7 Pro 64 bit (and my VM is the same)....

Note, this is my first time using a virtual machine. I am running v 4.1.8. I have a copy of a virtual machine from one of the developers here that the software I was running on it somehow got messed up and I was told I couldn't fix it without reinstalling (Rarely the case with this software. Dangit.). I figured the easiest way to do this was to just remove the appliance I imported and reimport it. Well, when I did I guess I misunderstood/misread the message because I clicked Remove Only not Delete All Files afraid it might affect my other VM which is related to the one I wanted to remove. When I try to import the appliance again I am being told it already exists. What do I need to do to be able to reimport this appliance? Is there anything I can do? I didn't see anything about this in the user manual.

Adding this...I get about 90% through my import attempt before I see this.

If the VM is still present in the GUI then remove it again, selecting to delete the physical files (make a backup first if you're worried). Then shut down VirtualBox and leave it for 30 seconds.

If the VM is not still registered in the GUI then you can simply delete the VM folder and its contents using the host OS (the default folder is <userdoc>\VirtualBox VMs\<VMname>).

Then you can re-import the appliance.

No, it is not in the GUI. I tried another import to get that last screenshot and I went in and made a folder called originals and moved everything in there and am trying to import again.

Incidentally, there is absolutely no need to export/import VMs just because you wanted to uninstall VirtualBox. Would you expect uninstalling Microsoft Word to mean that all your Word documents get deleted?

Of course not. Uninstalling VirtualBox has no effect on your VMs, except of course that you won't have software to run them until you reinstall VBox.

Not to be rude, but I didn't say I wanted to reinstall VirtualBox. I wanted to reinstall that particular VM/appliance. I have multiple machines/appliances in VirtualBox.

Your first post is not entirely clear, but my interpretation was that the VirtualBox software got messed up on the PC you were using, and for that reason you wanted to reinstall VirtualBox, and for that reason you wanted to export your VMs and reimport them into the later VBox incarnation. I can only do my best to answer the questions you put - it's up to you to put the question clearly, and provide enough supporting data to make an accurate answer possible.
