How to get rid of unnecessary *.VDI files?

I have 7 snapshots of my Windows XP virtual machine according to the VM VirtualBox Manager.
Yet in the Snapshot directory of this machine I have 16 *.VDI files. How can I determine which .VDI files can be deleted?

TIA
Brent

Check with File | Virtual Media Manager. If media isn't listed there then it isn't being used. You can double check inside the .vbox file with a text editor (Notepad++, as Notepad isn't up to the job).

Make a backup of the entire VM folder before you start, to another drive.

mpack,
Thanks for the reply. I didn't realize VB had separate .vdi files for each drive, I thought they were lumped together in one .vdi file. I have 2 drives on my virtual machine so that's why I had so many .vdi files.
